Maybe I would be overjoyed or I would cry not because I am sad but it would be tears of joy.  But one thing is for sure, I will really feel so happy as if I've win in the lottery. Also, I'm expecting that how beautiful Eiffel Tower looks in the picture, it would be a hundred times more beautiful in person. So, I've been wishing that one day I will see you, Eiffel Tower.

Cata-al World War II Museum or Cata-al War Memorabilia

The Cata-al War memorabilia can be found in the town of Valencia, Negros Oriental.
The American – Japanese encounter brought about many pieces of interesting items that proved their existence in the province. The Cata-al War Memorabilia includes among other things, burnt remnants of an American militia uniform, ancient military armament, Japanese and American currency in notes and coins – all left behind by the fleeing as well as the conquering forces who once claimed the land. Perhaps the eeriest of all are the human skulls lining a shelf. They were dug up in the nearby mountains and believed to be casualties of the said war.
The Cata-al War memorabilia is housed in a rambling structure made of stone, owned by Porforio Cata-al himself. Upon reaching the main entrance from a winding driveway, one is promptly drawn to a scruffy military jeep parked conspicuously at a side. A Japanese soldier in uniform sits on the passenger side and stares at you behind dark glasses. It  is upon closer inspection that you realize it is only a dummy shaped from a stuffing of cotton and foam. And yet it effectively renders a chilling memory of that war prompting the imagination to run through what-might-have-been scenes. For a very minimal entrance fee, anybody is welcome to browse through. The Cata-al World War II Museum is really a good place to conduct field trips or study trips, especially when studying history particularly the World War II and the Japanese invasion in the Philippines. We enjoy watching all the collections and remains from the Japanese. We really learn so much.

Mactan Shrine

The Mactan Shrine located in Mactan Island, Cebu is dedicated in honor of Lapu-Lapu, Ferdinand Magellan, and the Battle of Mactan. Lapu-Lapu was the native chieftain of Mactan Island, and he resisted the efforts of Magellan to subdue his people and to be converted to Christianity and to be subjected to the throne of Spain. The subsequent battle on April 27, 1521 between the Spaniards and Lapu-Lapu and his men resulted to the death of Magellan. The shrine was erected on the supposed spot where the battle took place.

The Magellan monument consists of a plain obelisk on whose apex rests a sphere. The obelisk is mounted on a tall plinth and the plinth rests on a tripartite structure: an octagonal base on which rests a tall quadrilateral structure, divided into two parts. The lower part is decorated with high relieves of vases, and the upper part is pierced by narrow arches. On the monuments are inscribed texts honoring Magellan. A low fence surrounds the monument.

A heroic sculpture of the chief of Mactan who defeated Magellan, Lapu-lapu stands near the Magellan monument. Lapu-lapu, sculpted with great realism, stands tall, with a shield held by his left and while a curved kampilan sword, drawn is held by his right. The sculpture celebrates the readiness of the brave warrior to confront aggressors. (http://explorephilippines.org/destination/mactan-shrine)

When we have our vacation at Cebu, I directly grab the opportunity to visit  the well-known historical site in Cebu namely the Mactan Shrine. During our visit there, we took a lot of pictures including the life-sized monument of Lapu-lapu. Also, we are able to read the history behind the Mactan Shrine. For me, it was really an unforgettable experience that I was able to visit and see this historical place personally.
